ClearList Product Spotlight: A New Way to Manage Private Company Investments

ClearList is the go-to solution for private companies looking to easily navigate their path to the public markets. We work with private companies at every stage of their lifecycle and have developed customized end-to-end solutions to meet their various needs. Some companies come to us initially for primary raises or secondary trading, while others are interested in cap table management, valuation services, or liquidity programs. Since all of our offerings are seamlessly integrated, there’s no need to ever leave ClearList once you’re on board.

Our cap table product provides the strong foundation for seamless integration on ClearList. We build a company’s cap table from their underlying stakeholder agreements and reconcile back to their spreadsheet or other tracking mechanism. Our clients desire this approach as it highlights any discrepancies and ensures their cap tables are accurate. Once a cap table is onboarded, all information is securely stored, keeping companies compliant and audit-ready with all relevant documentation right at their fingertips. We know how important it is for companies to have an easy way to manage their equity, and we know that investors – specifically those with a portfolio of private company investments to manage – value the same thing.

That’s why we are thrilled to be rolling out a new product offering –The ClearList Portfolio View – that will clear the clutter of managing multiple investments. Investors with a portfolio of private company investments often get bogged down going through a morass of separate legal documents to determine the exact terms of respective investments or what actions they must take. This manual process is time consuming, frustrating, and subject to error.

The ClearList Portfolio View is particularly beneficial for Accelerators, Angel Networks, Venture Capital firms or individuals with large portfolios. For a company like Expert Dojo, a leading private company accelerator with multiple funds and over a hundred investments, precision and simplicity in managing this process was the key reason they turned to ClearList for a solution. We have been working closely with Expert Dojo to deliver their investment information using easy-to-navigate technology that creates an intuitive and user-friendly web-based dashboard.

The terms of each investment including:

…and much more are easily accessible and visually clear at the click of a mouse.

With more funding going into the private markets and more companies choosing to stay private longer, there’s tremendous pent-up demand for technology that can manage multiple investments. In fact, global venture funding reached $621B in 2021, which is +111% more than the $294B in 2020 1 .  It’s an exciting time for the private markets and ClearList, through the use of sophisticated technology delivered by capital markets experts, is solving many of the long-standing problems faced by private companies and investors in the space.

More to come within our technology offering for both private companies and investors – scenario modeling around new rounds of funding, waterfall analysis and breakpoints are all on the roadmap.  ClearList has seen tremendous growth over the past year and we’re just getting started. Stay tuned for our next big update!
